Forster Thermo Control
Sealed lithium iron sulfate battery (LiFePO4) | Power Prismatic Cells (BPC) | absolutely maintenance-free

Forster Thermo ControlDurable performance in cold conditions

With charge absorption down to -30 °C and low self-discharge, ideally suited for non-heated areas such as an exterior battery compartment in a motor home or intermediate storage for solar or wind generators.
Our recommendation when cold plays an important role in the application.

Features

  • Particularly insensitive to cold

With the special multi-layer heat system, this battery can be warmed up gently and efficiently. It can also be charged at -30 °C and discharged down to -20 °C.
Your advantage: This battery can be operated well in non-heated, outdoor areas.

  • Very long service life

Unlike lead-acid batteries, which sulfate at low charge, the LiFePO4 battery is resistant to deep discharge. It can withstand far more charge cycles to a significantly lower depth.
Your advantage: You get a particularly long-lasting battery.

  • 100% usable capacity and expandable

Unlike lead-acid batteries, the entire energy of this extremely compact LiFePO4 can be used. In addition, up to four batteries of the same type can be connected in parallel.
Your advantage: Significantly increased capacity in a small space.

Characteristics

  • Safe lithium technology (LiFePO4).
  • Particularly good space utilization due to prismatic cells (Power Prismatic Cells / BPC).
  • Forster Power Battery Management System (BMS) for safe operation and long service life.
  • Supports almost all boosters, shore chargers and solar charge controllers thanks to Multi Charge Mode (MCM).
  • Extended cold resistance for use down to -20° C

  • High heat tolerance for safe supply even at ambient temperatures up to 60°C.
  • Weight and space savings of up to 75% compared to a conventional battery of the same capacity.
  • Low self-discharge. Loses only 2 to 3 % charge per month.
  • Flexible installation position. Can be installed upright, lying down, upside down and in any other position.
  • Resistant to low charge. No sulfation. High performance throughout the discharge period.
  • Extremely long life expectancy with full capacity utilization. Up to 4,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge (= 80% DOD).
  • Capacity expandable by parallel connection of up to 4 batteries of the same type.
  • Monitoring via integrated Bluetooth Free Smart Connect app for Android and iOS.
  • Fully charged extremely quickly. bsorbs extremely high charging currents in a very short time (charging time depends on capacity and charger).
  • Ready for installation and immediate use.
  • Absolutely maintenance-free.

Battery knowledge

What do deposits on the battery plugs mean?
Black deposits on the plugs indicate a battery that has worn out prematurely due to continuous excessive load. Tip: Always ensure a good balance between current drain and charging. Information on capacity calculations and charging behaviour can be found …
What does maintenance-free mean?
In maintenance-free batteries, the electrolyte is in liquid form. They are usually closed at the factory, often with a double or labyrinth lid in which any gases produced condense and remain in the battery. In normal operation, maintenance-free ones do …
Batteries without vent hose
Only conventional, wet batteries need a vent hose, because they gas strongly during operation. The resulting steam can escape through the openings in the plugs. To prevent the vapour from damaging the vehicle, conventional batteries are vented to the …
The order of disconnection and connection
The negative terminal is connected to the body, hence the name grounding. If you accidentally touch the positive terminal and the body at the same time when the negative terminal is connected, e.g. with a metallic tool, a short circuit could occur that …
Cleanliness pays off
To ensure proper battery function, it makes sense to keep the battery surface clean and dry. Greasy or silicone-containing dirt on the lid can hinder the flow of current. Moisture on the battery can cause a short circuit in the worst case.
Pay attention to the state of charge
We recommend: Check the charge level every 2 - 3 months if ... ... the vehicle is often left unused. ... you drive a lot of short distances. ... many consumers are installed. ... it is cold. ... in start-stop systems the engine does not switch off as …
Removing the starter battery or motorcycle battery
If you want to remove a start-stop battery: inform the vehicle system before removal. First disconnect the negative cable (usually black), also called ground or earth, from the negative terminal of the battery. Then remove the positive cable (usually red) from the positive terminal of the battery.
What does low maintenance mean?
Low-maintenance batteries can be recognised by the removable sealing plugs on the top, the vent hose and the white or transparent housing. In these batteries, the electrolyte is in liquid form, i.e. it is not bound as GEL or in fleece. They are not sealed …
Round cell supply batteries
Similar to the tank cell, the surface area is increased by "winding" the grids, resulting in a larger amount of active mass. The box size is relatively compact, so you get the benefits of a utility battery in a small space, along with good starting …
Every battery ages
With each charge/discharge process (cycle), active material is inevitably lost and the battery's performance declines. Once it has fallen to the point where it can no longer fulfil its purpose - e.g. start the vehicle, supply the consumers or drive the …

What is a Supply Battery?

Supply batteries must provide power for as long as possible for consumers that are not connected to the regular power grid or the starter battery. Either in mobile applications, e.g. camping or in island installations such as mountain huts, or in safety applications when the normal power grid fails or to compensate for so-called mains wipers. Depending on the application, they are charged with a charger from the mains or via smaller photovoltaic or wind power systems.

So not only do they have to supply power for a long time and then take it up again well, but they also have to cope well with changing current levels and voltages.

Supply batteries are cyclic batteries, i.e. they are designed to continuously deliver current up to a maximum depth of discharge of 80% when supplying electrical consumers and then to be fully recharged again. In contrast, a starter battery delivers a short, strong current surge for starting the engine and is recharged by the alternator while driving.
