Deutschland GP - Hohenstein Ernstthal - Qualifying // 17.07.2010

Ajo Motorsport’s Derbi-duo on front row in Germany - Marquez crushes the qualifying record

The Derbi-riding Ajo Motorsport duo of Spanish Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider Marc Marquez and German Avant Mitsubishi Ajo rider Sandro Cortese will start tomorrow’s German Grand Prix from the front row. After a wet start to the day’s proceedings in the morning session, the qualifying was run in dry conditions. Marquez was quick to take his place on top of the time sheets, giving it away for only a few short moments during the whole session. Marquez took his sixth pole position of the season shattering the previous qualifying record by almost eight tenths of a second with his final push of the session. Riding in front of home crowd German ace Cortese was also running for top honours in the qualifying today, making it two Ajo Motorsport Derbi -bikes on the front row by taking 4th position on the starting grid for his home race tomorrow.

MARC MARQUEZ, RED BULL AJO MOTORSPORT:

“I have really good feeling with the bike and the set-up. And I think we can do a quick race pace tomorrow. But anyway, I’m not expecting the race tomorrow to be very easy as the nature of the circuit here makes it really difficult for anyone to really make a big gap to the group in the race.”

SANDRO CORTESE, AVANT MITSUBISHI AJO:

“Our plan was to be on the front row and we achieved that, so I’m really happy. I think we can do a good race pace, so I’m really excited to be riding in front of all the German fans tomorrow.”

TEAM MANAGER AKI AJO:

”A good start is of course always important, and with both Marc and Sandro on the front row for tomorrow I think things are looking quite good. We have been working hard with the set-ups, and it seems that we should have a good race pace. Even so, we really need to do our homework for tomorrow, as I don’t think it is going to be an easy race for anyone.”
