Ajo Motorsport’s Derbi-duo head for Germany with Marquez leading the Championship

The Derbi-riding Ajo Motorsport duo of Spanish Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider Marc Marquez and German Avant Mitsubishi Ajo rider Sandro Cortese are prepared to take on the Championship points fight at the coming weekend’s German Grand Prix in Sachsenring. Marquez took over the lead of the Championship two weeks ago with a dominant victory in his home race in Barcelona. In Germany it is time for Cortese to race in front of a home crowd as the Sachsenring race sounds off the hectic summer part of the season. After Sunday’s eight race of the season the 125 and Moto2 classes have a short break before the action commences in Brno for the Czech Grand Prix in the middle of August.

After the season’s seventh race in Barcelona two weeks ago Marc Marquez leads the Championship with Cortese in 6th place overall.

MARC MARQUEZ, RED BULL AJO MOTORSPORT:

“We have really done good work together with the team and my confidence level is high. But it is really important for us to keep our feet firmly on the ground. The season is long, so we really need to keep our concentration on the job in hand.”

SANDRO CORTESE, AVANT MITSUBISHI AJO:

“This being my home race of course gives the weekend that special edge, but also I feel that we have progressed well in the past few races, so I’m really looking forward to the weekend. It feels great to ride in front of the German fans.”

TEAM MANAGER AKI AJO:

”The results from the past few races have been really good, but we need to remember that the season isn’t yet even at half distance. This means of course that we must keep our concentration and work at least as hard as we have done so far. Sandro will be of course racing in front of the German fans, and Marc took the Championship lead in the previous round, so naturally there is that little extra something in this weekend. Preparations have gone well, but of course the results can only be counted after the race on Sunday.”
